Review of a Swagman Turbo 2 Bike Rack
Today we are going to be showing you part number S64660. This is the Swagman 2-Bike Carrier Turbo Hitch-Mount Rack for 2-inch receiver hitches. The Turbo Rack system features solid steel construction and a tough, powder coat finish, with three different rack platforms - towing, bumper or hitch-mounted racks - to handle all your bike travel needs. The Turbo Rack transports two bikes and includes six adjustable tie-downs. And thanks to its tough, powder coat finish and solid steel construction, it is corrosion resistant.
We are going to show you some of the features of this - how it gets hooked up into a hitch. And we will also show you how a bike fits on there and gets secured down to the rack. Next we are going to go ahead and put this up into the hitch, and we are going to show you how the anti-sway bolt works, and how it actually benefits you more and how it keeps everything a little bit more sturdy and secure. Now after you actually have it tightened down, you use a 15/16 wrench to finish the job. And after that, there is just a clip that goes through to secure it in. All right, next we are going to go ahead and show you the wheel mounts. This is where of course the wheels would be put in after you put your bikes on. And one of the specific features about these is that they are actually adjustable and you can move them back and forth, as needed, just to accommodate many different style frames of bikes or sizes of bikes. You simply just loosen up here, and it moves at your leisure. Also, it comes with these Velcro straps that strap the wheel itself onto the frame of the bike. We have this post here, that is also adjustable, which actually serves as a point for you to tie off your bikes after you are finished, with this strap here to secure them to the frame. Once again, it has a knob down here that enables you to place it wherever needed for two bikes.
Now that we have all the basics set down for you, we are going to go ahead and put a bike on here - show you how it works, show you how it mounts up and show you how to tie it down. Make sure that the wheel mounts are tightened up. OK, now we are going to go ahead and strap the wheels down. All right, now as you notice, it is still a little wobbly here and could obviously fall off. Well, this is where the tie-down strap comes into play. Now, you see it is nice and secure to the bike rack. And with your excess, you just fold it up, like so, and secure it to the bike, as well. And there you have it for part number S64660.
