Review of the SportRack 3 Bike Folding Carrier
Today we are going to be showing you part number A30703FB this is the folding 3 bike carrier for 1 and a 1/4 and 2 inch trailer hitches from SportRack. SportRack has constructed a very solid, yet very versatile bike carrier. The rubber knob cradles protect your equipment from scratches and, when not in use on your vehicle, it folds completely out of the way. When you get home it totally collapses, taking up the least mount of storage space then any other bike rack we sell. The weight capacity is 132 pounds and accepts bikes with frames up to 2 and a 1/4 inches in diameter. This bike also includes a locking knob on the very last arm, which ensures security for bikes when you travel on down the road. It also comes with a set of keys to lock it. Before we show you how to convert the shank we are going to show you how this folds up for the maximum amount of storage capabilities in your garage. You loosen this pin here and it just folds up to a very convenient folding position like so. Then you just replace the pin.
Next we are going to show you how to convert this into a 1 inch and a 1/4 hitch. There are these bolts here, there is one on each side. You will need a phillips head screw driver to loosen them up and take them out. Then use a flathead just to pry the sheath around it off. There you have it, it is ready for an 1 inch and 1/4 hitch. We are going to go ahead and stick this back into the hitch now. We have unfolded the arms to make it a little easier to actually put the bikes on. Make sure that the holes come into alignment here so you can fit the anti sway bolt back in. As you can see, just like any other bolt it just simply screws in. And then you use a 3-1/4 inch ratchet or wrench to tighten it up. Do not forget the clip for the other side. Next we are going to show you the tilt feature of this rack.
First you simply unclip and undo the pin at the base of the bike rack and just let it fall forward. This way you can actually gain access to rear side of your SUV or truck. We are going to go ahead and put some bikes on here and first we are going to start off with using the one in the middle. We will loosen up the knob here take off the top cover of it, just to have it fit better. Lift the bike over the front knob here and set it inside the cradle. Now when you put these plates on, you can see these notches here give you a choice of what stage you need to put them on. The bike is sturdy and it is not going anywhere. Focusing on the front cradle here, first off this is the locking knob itself. You can see the keys here, you simply turn to the locking position and it will not tighten or loosen. Get the cradles themselves here. First off you see these knobs here which actually have protective shells over them. But with a simple flat head screwdriver they actually reveal the 2 knobs that enable you to adjust these back and forth or side to side to accommodate the different styles of frames that you are going to encounter. Also you can see here, there are different grooves that actually fit the cables in through here to make sure that they do not mash up against the frame when you load them up. There you have it for part number A30703FB the folding 3 bike carrier for 1 inch and 1/4 or 2 inch hitches from SportRack.
