Review of the Rola TX-102 2 Bike Rack
Today we are going to be showing you part number 59400. This is the folding, 2-bike bike carrier for 2-inch trailer hitches, the Rola TX-102. This bike rack carries up to two bikes. The rack tilts down to access the back of the vehicle, and the arms fold down when not in use to allow for compact storage. Cradles include the anti-sway device to prevent bikes from rocking back and forth during transit. And the cradles also accept bikes with frames up to 2-1/2 inches in diameter. This fits 2-inch trailer hitches only and has a maximum weight capacity of 66 lbs.
Next we are going to show you the tilting feature of this rack. It is a pretty simple process. You use keys that look basically like soda machine keys to unlock the mechanism toward the bottom near the shank. Then you simply lift up and then let it fall toward you and you will gain access to the rear of the vehicle. And also, once you actually have locked it back up, it comes with a nice weather cover to keep corrosion and road grime out of there as you travel. Also, if you look at the shank here, you will see that you have options as to where you can put the hitch into ythevehicle, and how close it can be to your vehicle.
Next we are going to show you how the arms fold down. You pull out the pin, pull out the handle mechanism, let the arms fold down, and then you replace the handle mechanism back in, pulling the pin out once again. Next we are going to go ahead and load up a bike, and to do that we actually are going to loosen up the straps first to make it a little bit easier for us to fit it on there. Once you have it set in there, go ahead and tighten down the straps. We went ahead and put in our anti-sway strap here, as you can see. It is nice and secure, and it is not going to go anywhere.
Next we are going to go ahead and focus on the cradles and show you a couple of the nice features about them. First off, you can see that there are nice rubber straps. If you loosen these screws here, these will move back and forth and side to side to accommodate different style frames. And underneath here, this is where, of course, the anti-rattle straps are, and you just adjust this to your bike as needed. We will show you the locking mechanism that actually fits into the rack itself. You simply pull it out, wrap it around your bikes nice, tight and secure, and then secure it to the other end, which is actually located on one of the arms. And it will not go anywhere, and it also has a weatherproof cover to keep dirt and grime out of the lock. OK, and there you have it for part number 59400. This is the 2-bike bike rack from Rola, the TX-102.
