Review Of Convert-A-Ball Convert Ball Mount
Today we are going to show you part number PH2 from convert-a-ball. What we have here is the cushioned Pintle hitch with a 3 ball combination. What is good about this is that it has a spring loaded double engagement latch that locks through the Pintle sleeve for increased strength and reliability. It also has an automatic rust proof latch lock and manual safety pin to insure safe hook up. So it does not come apart on you. It has a real quick conversion from Pintle hitch to ball mount without any need for tools whatsoever. We will now go over a few measurements of this ball mount. The inside diameter for when being used as a Pintle ring configuration is 3 inches. The maximum outside would be 6 and 3/8 inches. And the maximum cross section of the Pintle ring would be an inch and 5/8. Now we are going to show it on a trailer hitch and show you how it works with all the different configurations you can do with it.
One nice thing about this arrangement from Convert-a-ball is that all their parts have the cushioned ball mount section on the inside here. Basically you have the polyurethane bushing in the front and in the back it absorbs any shocks and bumps that you may run into. It kinda helps quiet the hitch up just a little bit. We are going to go ahead and install it. As shown right now it can be used for a Pintle trailer. To install your Pintle trailer all you would have to do is go ahead and pull out the safety pin here and then pull on the latch, pull it out, and pull up. Then it will swing off to the side. Then you can put your Pintle on here and then just reverse the procedure. Pick it back up and put it back over the Pintle. It automatically locks into place. And then you just put your safety pin back into place. That way your Pintle trailer is ready to go.
Now if you have a ball type trailer it is a little bit different. Again we unlatch it and move it to the side. Then this sleeve will just simply slide off. Then we can install the ball of your choice on here. In this case you get a 2 and 5/16. You just push this little pin in and pull it out the other side. Then simply install it on the shank and then push the pin back into place again. And that is all you have to do. What happens is the coupler rides over the ball so that pin can not possibly come out. Go ahead and install your safety pin and now you are ready to pull a ball type trailer. This also comes with a 2 inch and also the inch and 7/8 balls. There you have it for part number PH2 from Convert-a-ball, the cushioned Pintle hitch with 3 ball combo.
