Installation of a Bestop Jeep Top on a 1998 Isuzu Amigo

Today we are going to be installing Bestop Replacement Top part number B5115701 on a 1998 Isuzu Amigo. As you can see, we have already removed the old cover from the vehicle. We want to go ahead and release the latches that are holding the framework onto the main portion of the vehicle. We can do so by just pressing the button in and pulling the latch over on both sides. Let us go ahead and fold it back and let it rest there. We are going to go ahead and open up the rear door, and then we are just going to take the top, and we are going to start by fastening to the snaps here on the front bow assembly. Next we are just going to take the bow assembly and go ahead and rotate it up into position. We are going to leave it unlatched at the front here for the time being, and then we are going to come in here to the rear side of the top. And you can see we have got snaps along this rear edge as well. We are going to go ahead and take the snaps that are on the top, fold them over, and snap them into place.

Next, we are going to come inside of the vehicle here at the center bar. Right above it you can we have got the Velcro in two spots. We are going to undo those and wrap it around the bar. Now we are going to come again to the rear of the vehicle. We have got these sewn-in tabs on the back end, right above where the tailgate goes. We are going to slide these in, under the retainer. You might want to support the top a little bit while you are doing this, because it may want to fold down on you. OK, now that we have got the plastic strips in the top secured under the retainer on the vehicle, we can go ahead and go back up to the front section and go ahead and latch the top into the vehicle.

The next thing you do is to put the windows on, starting here at the drivers side. And I have got the window here and you can see the bottom and around the side we have got the same retaining strip that we had at the rear of the vehicle. We are going to put that into the ridge underneath the window and up around the side as well. And it will attach at the upper side and to the rear with the zipper that is built into the top. We are going to attach the zipper from the window directly to that. And you can see here at the top we have got a lip this will fold under, and there is another strip of Velcro there. And we repeat that process for the passengers side as well.

OK, and lastly we are going to install the rear window. We are going to start by taking the mounting bar out of the rear. That will simply just slide off. You can see here on the back side there is a channel here. We are actually going to feed our rear window into that channel and we will fold it up and zip it to the top itself. We are going to take and install the bar back into the rear of the vehicle. And starting over here on the drivers side, we are going to align the zipper with the zipper on the top, and then just go ahead and zip that all the way around. And just apply the Velcro at the corners. Then we can close our tailgate, and our installation is complete. That will conclude the installation of part number B5115701 on a 1998 Isuzu Amigo.

This is my second order from etrailers, and they can't be beat! Shipping was quick, prices were fantastic, and it took me about a 1/2 hour to install it. I have installed a hitch on a 1998 Volvo V70 (The hitch outlasted the car!) and one on a 2001 Subaru Outback. Both were perfect, and easy to install.
