Installation of a Brake Controller on a 2007 Ford Expedition
Today we are going to install a brake controller on a 2007 Ford Expedition. We are going to be using the Prodigy its part number is 90185. We also are going to use part number 3035-P, the Ford Brake Control Harness. OK, we are just going to show you a quick assembly outside the vehicle first. We will disconnect it before we go back in there. Essentially, how these two parts go together - it is really simple. This end here will plug into the back of the Prodigy Brake Controller, and then the other end of the harness right here, that will actually plug into the factory tow package port underneath our Expedition.
Our next step is going to be to go ahead and mount our bracket for the brake controller. There is a nice piece of metal underneath the dash here and its existing screw, we can actually just bolt it right to that, to the existing screw, and then install another screw on the other side to hold it in place. We will snug this down. We do not have to crush it or anything since it is just plastic on top and then the bracket. But already it is plenty strong. That only took a second. Put the brake controller up into the bracket. Try to get it pretty close to the holes in the brake controller and see if you need to move it to the left or the right. And you want the brake controller aligned toward the front of the vehicle as best as possible. Then we will just go ahead and install our other screw to lock the bracket down in place so it will not swivel. And at this point we can go ahead and start installing our brake controller.
Now we are showing the actual port itself for a tow package. It is right behind the brake controller, in this case, right here. And then our last step basically now is to get rid of the extra wires and just zip-tie them underneath the dash and get them out of the way. All right, and that covers our install of part number is 90185, the Prodigy Brake Controller, and part number 3035-P, the Ford Brake Control Harness.
