Assembly for a Rola Hitch Mounted Swinging Cargo Carrier

First were going to stick the bottom half of the assembly into the hitch, we will start from there. Next well start installing the outriggers they will go on the bottom and support the cargo carrier itself. The next step we need to do is go ahead and install the wire harness. What we need to do first is go ahead and unpin the hinge mechanism and unfold it so we have plenty of working room to run our wires. Now we can go ahead and install our wiring, first we will install a zip tie loosely around the tube and then we will run our wires through it and then snug it up to secure it, to keep it from moving anywhere. We will leave all the zip ties reasonably loose for now, because we still have to work around and make sure we have plenty of length where the plugs connect to the cargo carrier as well as to the vehicle. Next thing we need to do is take apart the tray from the cargo box itself. We will go ahead and close the fold mechanism back up and we will start building on top of that.

We will go ahead and separate the cargo box from the tray, we will undo the latches, pick it up with some help and set it to the side. Now we will lay the tray itself onto the swing away assembly, and then we will line up our bolt holes. As you can see the tray has slots in it for where the rails fit into, so make sure you get it in the right spot. You can slide it right into place. Now that we have the tray in place, lets bolt it into position. If you notice there are eight holes in the tray and there are only four bolts. Its okay because the assembly only uses four bolts. It uses the outside holes for the installation. Now that we have our bolts in we will go ahead and install the nut and washer assemblies. At this point you go ahead and tighten all the screws down. The cargo carrier platform is installed, we can get back to the wiring, go ahead and hook it up, take up our slack and send the rest of it back to the trailer hitch. Go ahead and snip off the excess to keep it nice and neat. That pretty much finishes up the installation of it. We can go ahead and close it up, put our cargo carrier on there and test the operation of it. The cargo box itself is installed we will go ahead and check the locks for operation and your install will be complete. As you can see, relatively easy assembly, you only need a few hand tools. It is nice that it comes with this specific alan key with it. It should take you no more than twenty minutes to assemble.
