Today on this 2009 Honda Civic we will be installing wiring harness part number 118420. Our harness here consists of three different ports. We have got two ports that are going to hook in over on the driver side, that will be the port with the brown and red wires and the port with the yellow and white wire. Also on our harness here, we are going to connect on the driver side, the white wire there with ring terminal on it. That is our ground wire. The third port with the longer green lead we are going to feed over to the passenger side tail light and we will connect them to give us our right turn. The connection points for our wiring harness are located directly behind the tail light assemblies here on the interior. To gain access to those connectors, we need to go ahead and remove some interior pieces. We need to remove the center threshold piece here and also pull back the interior fabric here on both sides and to pull back the interior fabric here we have got three flathead screws per side.
So we are going to start over here on the driver side then. We just want to go ahead and pull back the interior here. You can see the ports that we are looking for are actually plugged into the backside of the tail light assembly. The larger plug with the red and brown wires, we are going to plug into the top connector here. You want to make sure you press them in until you hear it fully click. And the smaller one with the yellow and white wires, we are going to be plugging into the middle one on the bottom row here. We can actually take our ground wire here and we have got a common grounding point so we can actually connect right there. And we will go ahead and add our ground wire onto there and then we connect. Then, next, we want to go ahead and take our converter box here. We want to go ahead and peel that back and adhere it to the interior of the trunk area.
Our 4-pole you can just leave over there for the time being. And we are going to go ahead and take our connector with the green wire on it, route it across the existing wiring harness here behind the threshold piece and connect them over here on the passenger side. Again we are going to be disconnecting the middle connector here on the bottom row. And we just want to go ahead and secure that wire coming across there. We can do that using the zip ties that are provided in our installation kit. The 4-pole itself is actually going to stay inside the trunk area when not in use so we can go ahead and feed it underneath the interior panel here and we can go ahead and start putting everything back together. Again the 4-pole, when not in use, can be stored here inside the trunk area. When we want to go ahead and use it, you simply need to pull it out of the trunk area, down near the trailer hitch where we are going to make our connection to the trailer. Do not worry about closing the trunk onto the wiring harness because the weather stripping will prevent it from being pinched. That will conclude our installation of wiring harness part number 118420 on a 2009 Honda Civic.
