Installation of a Wiring Harness on a 2007 Kia Amanti
Today we are going to be installing wiring harness part number 188453 on a 2007 Kia Amanti. OK, we are in the trunk area here and we want to go ahead and locate the connection point for the wiring harness. What we want to do is to go ahead and take off the access panel here. And it is kind of hard to see, but right behind this carpeting piece is our connector for our wiring harness. OK, we need to make that connection there, both on the drivers side and over on the passengers side. We are also going to need to remove this middle threshold piece and also pull back some of the felt liner on both sides. You do so by removing the push pins here on the sides and the ones here on the threshold piece, as well.
OK, and with the rear threshold removed and our pop rivets removed, go ahead and pull back the carpeting here. Then go ahead and make our connections. Go ahead and push the button to release the connector. Then here on the drivers side I want to use the harness portion that has the yellow and brown wires in it. And we are just going to plug those two in line. One will go in the back of the tail light assembly, and the other one will plug directly into the harness. You have also got a ring terminal that is connected to the harness. That is going to be our ground screw attachment point. You can see right here in the middle we have got an existing factory ground stud. I am going to go ahead and remove that and add our ground wire to it.
Now we are going to take the other connector, with the red and green wires in it. Remove the rubber band, and we can feed it right along the factory harness here all the way over to where we are going to make our connection on the passengers side. We also want to mount the converter box here to the metal on the inside of the felt. You can see we have got double-sided tape here. Let us go ahead and peel that back. We have got a nice flat surface right here that we can mount it to, just like so. We will just move our 4-pole there it is just going to stay inside the vehicle. And again, I am just going to feed this over and make my connection here on the passengers side. I am just going to push the button in on the connector to release it and plug our harness in line.
And then we just want to go ahead and secure any loose wires that we may have, using the provided cable ties in the installation kit. As you can see, I have already used two of them to secure the harness to the main factory wiring harness coming across. I am just going to use the larger one here to secure the extra lead over here to the passengers side. Then we can go ahead and put the interior back together. And then I can just replace the covers. And with the interior put back together, our installation is complete. And this will conclude the installation of wiring harness part number 118453 on a 2007 Kia Amanti.
