Today on this 2006 Dodge Charger, we will be installing wiring harness part number 118404. We are in the trunk area of the Charger here and we want to go ahead and locate the port for our wiring harness. The ports are located directly behind the tail light assemblies here inside the trunk compartment. So we need to go ahead and remove the interior carpeting here to gain access to those. To do that we just need to remove the screw here on both sides of the vehicle and we just pull that back. You see once we do that, right in the back of the tail light assembly is our connection point. As you see there is a red tab here at the top. We want to push that over and then there is also a button here at the top we push that in and disconnect the two like so. 00:41
Okay then next we will take our wiring harness and plug it in line. Over here on the drivers side we want to use the ports that have the yellow and brown wires in them. And actually we want to remove this middle threshold piece as well. Were going to hide the wires behind there that are going to be crossing over to the passenger side. Then over here on the passenger side we just want to do the same thing. You will also notice on the passenger side we have a ring terminal on the white wire and that is going to be our grounding wire. What you want to do is find a mounting suitable location for that ground stud. And then we will just take and secure the remaining parts of the wire using the zip ties that are provided with our wiring kit. 1:24
The harness is going to stay inside the vehicle when not in use, so we can just go ahead and put the interior back together now. Okay and with the interior installed, our installation is complete. Just a quick overview of how we can use the harness. Simply we just want to pull it out of the trunk area when we want to use the unit. You can go ahead and close the trunk on it. The weather stripping there will prevent it from being pinched and again we just put it back in the trunk when not in use.
