Today on this 2004 Toyota Sienna we are going to install part number 118304 from Tow Ready. This is their T-One wiring harness. The first steps involved is to open up the rear tail gate of the vehicle because we have to get behind the tail lights so that means we are actually going to have to remove the two tail lights on the vehicle. First we will start off on the driver side and then we will go over to the passenger side. Pop this side loose a little bit and it will go sideways like this. Rock it back and forth. Then you will want to disconnect at the tail lights right here. There is a little tab you push down and it comes right apart. What we are going to do next is remove this rear threshold right here. 00:41
We are going to have to remove these tie down hooks right here to do that. We should be able to pop the whole thing off. Just lift up the hook here and pull back the plastic and there is the bolt that we need to remove. It pops right out. Then we need to get underneath this part of the threshold. This panel here we are going to have to pop loose so we can route our wires behind it. You just need about that much room. We will go back over to the passenger side and do the same thing again. The next step is to lay out the wire harness to show you what side goes to what. 02:03
Basically we have got our little converter box in the middle and the green and red wire are going to be installed over on the passenger side and our box will probably be hidden over there because that is the short wire side and then our yellow and brown wire is going to be routed over to the driver side. We will take our red and green wire and run it behind our plastic. It will be up along the jack tools. Go up with it and route it out the opening where the tail lights hook up to. We have got our two ends for the T connector. This is the factory wire harness on the Toyota. This is our T-One and we will just snap them together. Take this and tuck it back in here. This part will snap on to the tail light. At this point we can reinstall the tail light also. Next we will find a place to mount our converter box and right here in the sheet metal next to the carpet is a good spot so we will wipe that down a little bit and then we will adhere it with the double sided tape that is on the bottom of it. We will run the 4-pole and the ground back here too. The 4-pole by the way is going to stay back in the jack storage compartment when we are not using it. It will stay right there. 03:35
The ground wire, we can attach it to where the sheet metal overlaps. This will give it plenty of material for the screw to dig into instead of just one thin piece, just put that inside. You should probably tuck the extra wire behind the carpet. Take the remaining half of the T connector and route it all the way across and do the same thing back over on the driver side tail light. There is really not much to tie off to here so what you can do is zip tie and we are just going to thread it through this one hole here and out the other side and use that to hold our wire into place in the middle when it is not being used. Once again we will route behind the plastic and come out behind the tail light. We will snap these two together and just tuck it back in. We will plug the tail light back into place. Next we can reinstall the threshold here. We can reinstall the tie downs. Just make sure you stay away from the wires so you do not mash them. When you need to use it just pull it out and put the door back on to it if you want and put the latch on top back and that should be fine. When you need to use it you just pull it out and just lay it down over the threshold. The door seal is thick enough where it will not mash the wire and you can shut the hatch on it and then you can pull out what you need to meet your trailer. That will finish our install of part number 118304 from Tow Ready.

Trailer Wiring Harness Installation - 2011 Toyota Sienna

Today we will be working on a 2011 Toyota Sienna. We will be installing Tow Ready T-one connector part number 118498. We are going to start by accessing the rear cargo area of the van. And we need to remove both taillight assemblies. They are each mounted with two 10 millimeter bolts. You can see this gives us access to the rear taillight wiring. I am going to go ahead and disconnect the lens from them now. On each connection, there is a small locking tab that must be depressed before disconnecting. I am going to go ahead and set my taillight lens assembly aside for now. We will reinstall that later. Now I am going to go repeat the same process on the passenger side. Next we want to remove the three cargo hooks so that we can remove this rear threshold. I am going to repeat the same process for the next two. Now that we have our cargo hook hold downs removed, we can go ahead and remove the rear trim panel. We will set that out of our way. You can see it gives us access to route our wiring from the driver to the passenger side. 0:55

Take off this panel here and there is an additional screw back here you can loosen the panel, the whole rear interior quarter panel with.
