Installation of a Wiring Harness on a 2008 Hyundai Santa Fe

Today we are going to be installing wiring harness part number 118415 on a 2008 Hyundai Santa Fe. We are in the rear cargo area of the vehicle. The Wiring Harness plugs in behind each the driver and the passenger-side panels here. To make it a little bit easier to get to and to also route the wire from one side to the other, we are going to need to not only pull back the interior panels but to remove some of the bottom threshold pieces as well. With the rear threshold piece removed, we can go ahead and undo the Phillips head screws here. They are holding the interior panels on. We are going to remove our hedge cover. And with that pulled back again you can see the plug a little bit better there.

Looking at the harness we want the connector with the yellow and brown wires on it to be connected to the driver-side port. The connector with the green and red wire connects to the passenger side. You can see we have also got a white wire here that has a ring terminal on it that is for our brown screw. We have also got our converter box here that is part of the harness which has double-sided tape on the back side of it. You are going to want to tape that here to the inside of the vehicle. And then here at the other end we have the 4-pole which will be plugged into the trailer. That is going to stay stored inside the vehicle here until used before we can pull it out the rear hatch of the vehicle. To disconnect the connector here on the driver side, you want to press the little tab on the inside here and that will allow you to pull the two pieces apart.

Again we are over here on the driver side. We are going to be connecting in the part of the harness that has the yellow wire and brown wires on it. Take the white ground wire here and pull it back a little ways. We are going to be using the self tapping screw that is provided with the wiring harness to make our connection. We are going to go ahead and take our converter box and adhere it to the inside behind the interior panel here. You want to find a nice, clean, flat, metal surface to adhere it to. Okay now we are going to take the connector with the green and red wires routed over here to the passenger side and make our connection. Okay now we can go ahead and start reinstalling the interior of the vehicle. Okay and with the interior put back together our installation is complete. And you see we have got our 4-pole ready to go and when we want to use it you can just pull it out the rear cargo area of the vehicle. Close the rear hatch on it, the weather stripping will keep it from getting pinched. And then it is ready for plugging into your trailer. And that will conclude the installation for wiring harness part number 118415 on a 2008 Hyundai Santa Fe.
