Installation of a Wiring Harness on a 2006 Nissan Titan
Today we are going to be installing wiring harness part number V30608 on a 2006 Nissan Titan. OK, we are underneath the vehicle here, and we are actually looking at the back side of the bumper just a little bit forward excuse me, just a little bit rearward - of the spare tire. We are on the drivers side, and you can see this port right here. This is actually the port that we are going to be plugging into for our wiring harness. So the first thing that we want to do is go ahead and disconnect that from the little pop rivet that is in here. And then you can go ahead and pull that down, like so. From there, you can see there is a little cap on there. You press the button here and and pull that right off. And that is where our wiring harness is going to plug into.
Taking the wiring harness that is provided in the kit, I am going to go ahead and take the large port here and just plug that directly in. You just want to align the tabs there and push it in hard until you hear a click. Hold it together nice and tight. OK, once the harness is connected here, we want to go ahead and mount the mounting bracket that, again, came with the kit. On most vehicles that do not have a bracket to mount this to, we want to find a nice, clean surface to use the two self-tapping screws that are provided with the kit to mount the bracket. And typically you can just mount it to the bottom side of the bumper here. Again, this vehicle already has a trailer hitch on it, which has an existing mounting bracket, so we are just going to go ahead and mount that onto there like so. If you are using the existing bracket like the one that is here on the trailer hitch here, you will need to provide your own bolt and nut for this attaching point. I am going to go ahead and tighten that down now.
All right, and with the mounting bracket securely into place, we want to go ahead and take our wiring harness here take the larger port go ahead and align it with the 7-pole that is provided with the installation kit. Align the tab and push them together. And again, you need to push them hard until you hear the snapping. And from there we can go ahead and take the black nuts and bolts that are provided in the installation kit and go ahead and attach the 7-pole to the mounting bracket. Then you can go ahead and tighten the bolts down. Then we can go ahead and mount the 4-pole into the side here. Just slide that into position. That will complete the installation of the wiring harness.
From there, you might want to go ahead and maybe get some zip-ties and go ahead and zip-tie this up and out of the way, maybe to the back side of the hitch or maybe even further up here behind the bumper. And that will kind of keep the connector up and out of the way. OK, now we are going to go up under the hood to the accessory fuse box, and we are going to need to install the relays that are provided in the installation kit. So, we are going to go ahead and do that now.
OK, we are up under the hood now. And over here on the passengers side of the vehicle, just forward of the battery is the accessory fuse block that we are going to be plugging our relays into. We want to go ahead and remove the lid. As you can see with the lid removed, there are three relay locations that we are going to plug our relays into. And we are going to take the two blue ones and plug them into the two white ones up top. And then we want to take the brown one and plug it into the one right below it here. OK, then we just want to replace our cover, and our installation is complete. This will conclude the installation of wiring harness V30608 on a 2006 Nissan Titan.
