Installation of a Wiring Harness on a 2005 Honda Odyssey
Today we are going to install part number 118438 from Tow Ready, and we are going to install this on a 2005 Honda Odyssey. All right, this is the plug that will go into the factory plug behind the plastic here, and we also have the ground for our unit, which will get grounded on the inside on sheet metal. So first we will take this off. All right, we are going to take off these tie-down points here we have one on each side. There are some buttons underneath here, too, so we are going to loosen those first. There you go - it just pops right up. Now you can see where we have got to take this off so we can pop this loose and out. We will take off the jack storage compartment door and then just easily pull it off on the side. Some are harder than others. And it will also help to take off this little tie-down point, too. You may have to put a tool back here to work it out. All right, once you have the threshold panel taken off, you can see why this has to come loose - now you can see why you have to take the threshold off, because this overlaps it. What is going to happen is that this is going to get pulled out just enough to run the harness in here, because the harness is going to be stored inside the jack storage compartment. The connection point is going to be on the passengers side of the vehicle behind this plastic here. It kind of helps to take this tie-down point off and pull it away. But there is a fuse box back behind the plastic we have to plug our harness into.
This is the fuse panel we are going to install our T-1 connector. And it is simply going to install right here. It snaps into place. Then we need to take our ground and we are going to actually ground it to the factory ground right here on the side. OK, now we can take our module box, and with the adhesive back here, stick it onto the flat piece of the sheet metal behind the plastic here. Now we will take our 4-pole wire harness and follow the original factory harness back across. All right, you can see how we ran our wire going all the way across. And now we will take the rest of our 4-pole wire, pull this back a little bit, and we will just have it stored in the jack storage compartment. At this point we can start putting our plastic all back together. Now we will put our rear threshold back into place. Just reverse procedure, kind of clear out the bottom here and work the top back on first . All right, and then you just pop your buttons back into place and then go ahead and reinstall your tie-down points. All right, this is our wire harness right here. And to use it, you just simply pull it out. Stay away from the latch, and you shut the door hatch on it, and then you can pull out as much length or as little as needed. All right, that covers our install of part number 118438 from Tow Ready.
