Installation of a Wiring Harness on a 2002 Chevrolet Impala
Today on this 2002 Chevrolet Impala we are going to install part number 118002 from Tow Ready. This wiring harness is pretty easy to install because everything is going to be available to hook into on passenger side of the vehicle behind the carpet here. I have theses fasteners here just to make it a little easier to get the carpet down. All right and with this wiring harness right here we will go ahead and test each individual wire to find out its function and we will go ahead and make the appropriate connection.
First off we will actually make a ground. All right we will go ahead and cover the wire coding for our 4-pole wiring harness here. The ground is going to be white. The running lights circuit will be brown. The left turn is going to be yellow and the right turn is going to be green. Then we will test our wires. We will go ahead and test for our running lights. Okay it looks like brown with the white trace is going to be the running light circuit. So we will go ahead and make our connection now to the 4-pole wiring harness. Slide our scotch lock over the wire and put the brown wire through, and that is going to be our running lights.
That is our right turn, the green in our 4-pole harness is going to be right turn also. Okay so that is our left turn circuit so go ahead and hook that up. Okay now go ahead and hook up the ground. Since we have a screw here we will just add on a simple ring terminal and then just attach it to the body here. All right all we are going to do now is put our carpet back into place, keep the 4-pole out, and screw our fasteners back in and we are good to go. Obviously the 4-pull is going to stay in the trunk area when you are not using it. When you do need to use it go ahead and just lay it out, stay away from the latch, and you can shut the trunk on it. The weather strip is so thick it will not mash the wire. Then just pull our what you need out to your trailer hitch. With that, that finishes our install of part number 118002 from Tow Ready.
