Installation of a Wiring Harness on a 2000 Jeep Cherokee
Today we are going to install part number 118354 from Tow Ready, and we are going to install this on a 2000 Jeep Cherokee. To begin our install, what we have to do is get inside the vehicle, because all of the components are installed inside the vehicle on the drivers side behind the panel. And, once we are finished with the install, all the wiring is going to remain inside the vehicle. The first step that is going to be involved is taking off the spare tire, right here. We need to take this hook off, and then we need to take off this stand here. All right, next we will remove a couple of screws here from the threshold so we can move this piece outward. And one on top. And then we will take our panel loose. And we do not have to take it all the way off, but we just need to get back to these connectors back here.
All right, we are going to install our T-connector now, and it is going to be the one that matches the white connector. What you are going to do is, when you install the T1-connector it says in the instructions that it is all white and matching, so obviously you have got to find the one that matches. All these are different shapes only one will be compatible with the T1-connector. And I believe it is this one here. Yep. So we will reconnect it. It looks like we have got a factory ground right here, so we will take our ground wire and actually install it right there. Once you make all your connections, now you can start hiding the box back up in behind the sheet metal here, as well as the connectors. That way, it will be a little bit easier to put the panel back together. And just lay that out, just like so. There you go. And we can start putting our panel back together. Put our cover back on.
All right, and once we have got our wiring harness installed, I am going to show you how to use it next. It is pretty simple. Basically, when you are not using it you are going to keep it inside here. Maybe you have got a mat, or something to hide it underneath, or you can tuck it underneath the spare tire here, too. But when you do need to use it, just simply pull it out. And what is going to happen is you just pull out the length that you need and then shut the door on it. And this door seal is plenty thick for it to give way and not really mash the wire whatsoever. We will go ahead and just put a little bit out there and shut the hatch on it and give you an idea what is going on. The main thing is just keep it away from the lock. So you can just pull out exactly what you need for a trailer one less thing hanging out when you are not pulling a trailer, either. And the nice part about it is it is will not be sitting there getting corroded all the time. But when it is in use, you can just simply plug it into the trailer and go. All right, and that covers our install of part number 118354 from Tow Ready on our 2000 Jeep Cherokee.
