Today we are going to review part number 5780, the Sherline Trailer Tongue Weight Scale. This scale is rated to 2,000 pounds capacity. This scale is a good thing to keep in your tool box simply because if you have got a trailer that carries multiple loads, chances are your tongue weights are going to vary so this will give you a good idea on what you are dealing with before you hit the road. The gauge itself you can see has a nice white face with black lettering on top of it and it has two different measurements basically. It has metric and standard. The best way to use this scale is to put it in the coupler itself where the ball rides and that will give you your most accurate reading of course right at the very end. You will have to have some kind of stand underneath the tongue on the trailer and put the scale on top of that plus the trailer on top of the scale and you would end up with something like this. If you do not have the ability to do that the next best thing is to go underneath the jack itself and that is how we will demonstrate it. The first thing you want to do is lift the trailer up so you can put the scale underneath. Be careful when you do this. Put the scale underneath the jack and lower the trailer back on to it.
