Review of a Trailer Keeper Wheel Lock from Fulton

Today we are going to review part number FTK1000100, the trailer keeper. This is from Fulton. This wheel lock is designed to have one part to get bolted on to the wheel underneath one of the lug nuts and then the rest of the lock wraps around the wheel to keep it from rolling down the road. This is a pretty simple lock, it is more intended for a trailer that is going to be left for a long period of time such as a trailer that is being left at a marina or a construction site trailer or if it is used for storage. It is constructed of hardened steel material and a brass lock and key set and it is very easy to install and use. We will show you how it works. 00:37

The first step is to remove one of the lug nuts. Typically you want to do the one that is going towards the front of the wheels or in front of the trailer. We will take this part right here in the shape of a U and that gets installed on the wheel stud just like so and you put the lug nut back into place. When you set this part up you want to angle it so you have a straight line out below the fender so it is easy to put the wheel lock on. You will next install the part with the short rod assembly and it has got a key on it so it fits in like this at an angle away from the tire and bring it around and it locks so you cannot pull it out. 01:19

Next we can install the tire hook. It just hooks around the tire and then just push it into the short rod assembly. Push it as far as you can go and install the pin for the lock and just snap it into place. For the pin to be fully ed into the lock you have to have a lock up against the base here of the wheel hook and this pin has to go all the way down. Give it a good test and you are ready to go or in this case, leave it. To remove the trailer keeper just unlock the lock, pull out the pin, and just take the assembly apart. Also about the lug latch, what you might want to note is that in the instructions you can leave it in place however the lug nuts actually fit inside the wheel a little bit so it is a better idea to take the lug latch off when you are not using it. With that, that will finish our review of part number FTK1000100.
