Today we are going to install part number 245701 from TruXedo. It is their TruXport Tonneau Cover. We are going to install this on a 2007 Toyota Tundra Pick Up Truck. We are going to show you the components of the tonneau cover here. First off we have the actual tonneau cover itself, with the front rail already installed and also the back rail is installed on the back part of the tonneau cover in the inside. It is rolled up now, you can not see it. Next are the clamps that hold the tonneau cover in place. It comes with six clamps and all you need is a 1/2in socket or ratchet wrench to tighten them down. There is only one tool to install all of this. Then you have the two rails, of course the left and right side. And then the foam packing which you see in the middle there that is part of the weather seal that goes underneath the corners of the tonneau cover.
And that is where we will start off first , we will attach the seals to the corners of the tonneau cover. These are adjustable latches that control the tension. The seal we are going to use is going to be on the other side, so we will flip them around. Take your seal and attach it to the bottom. It is a tacky material so we make sure we get it right the first time. The other two halves we will put on at a later time. Next lets set our tonneau cover on the front rail here and leave it sit here for now. Then we will install the side rails that will push right into this track right here. Do the same thing for the other side. Next we will go ahead and install the clamps. We are going to install these loosely we are not going to tighten them up because we still have to do some alignment on the bed rails. For now just leave them in there, do this for all six clamps. All right we are going to repeat the same process on the other side.
Next we will go ahead and center the tonneau cover on the bed with this cross rail sitting on top of this back rail here. So go ahead and push that back. Then you want to put the rails even left to right too. Once you have that centered the way you want it go ahead and start tightening down the front clamps only. Next we are going to unroll the tonneau cover from the back. We will make our final adjustments back there. When you set up these rear rails right here, this corner, you want to have about an 1/8 inch of play back and fourth. That is all you need. Once you have it set the way you need it go ahead and tighten down the rear clamp. Okay, once tightened down it may be a good idea to roll it back out and double check it. Next we will go ahead and tighten down our center clamps and then we will install our weather seal on the back cross member.
We will go ahead and attach our weather seal to this corner piece right here. Same thing on the other side. All right next we will try out the latches. If you have everything else tightened down lets unroll it what happens is this little ledge right here catches between here and here. At this point you may need to adjust the tension on it, it may be too tight or too loose. If you have to do that go ahead and unlatch the cover. To unlatch it you need to push the lever forward, there is one on each side you have to do. And this is where you make your adjustment here. We have ours all the way back, but if you have to you can spin it and you can see how it moves out and takes up tension. Over time when the material stretches out you will probably end up doing this once or twice. All right so the last thing we need to check is the tail gate, which will push up on this weather seal right there. And it fits perfect. All right and with that it finishes our install of 245701 from TruXedo.
