Installation of a Trailer Hitch on a 2010 Toyota Prius

Today on this 2010 Toyota Prius we are going to install part number 24847 from Draw-Tite. This also applies to part number 60263 from Hidden Hitch. On the passenger side we are going to have to lower the exhaust. We are going to take down this bracket here with those two bolts. What will happen is the hitch will go up and the bracket will go on top of the hitch when we are done. :21

We are just going to leave it all just like that. Our hitch is going to fit between the frame and the bracket. Go back to the driver side and take down the driver bracket. The hitch is going to mount up on the frame here. Right now it is covered up by the tie down bracket so this bracket is going to come down with the bolts so that is what we are going to do on this side. :48

There is a lot of plastic underneath this vehicle here, and actually this is going to stay up there. What is going to happen is we are going to put the hitch up in an angle and inside. Then we can start installing the hitch. We will go ahead and put our hitch up into place. We will start by ing the drivers side into the plastic. We are just going to let it hang there. Then we will work it on the other side, back over the exhaust hanger on the passenger side. We will put it all together just like that. We will go back over to the drivers side and get that started. The trick is to get the bolts in here is to use and extension. We actually put a little nut inside of the socket here to hold the bolt up a little higher than normal. We will go ahead and just thread it up into place. 1:44

All right now that we have all the bolts started we will go ahead and snug them all down. Then we will torque them as specified in the instructions. All right, and there you have it for part number 24847 from Draw-Tite.
