Today on etrailer.com we are going to be working on this 2009 Saab 9-3. We are going to be installing part number 11326 from Curt. The first step is to gain access to the rear bumper, in order to do that we are going to have to remove two fascia 10 millimeter bolts, located here and here. We will go ahead and get those started. With those removed we can pull this down, which is going to give us the necessary access to make our cutout for our hitch to be installed. :38
Now, inferring to our instructions, we are going to go ahead and make our marks on the rear fascia where we need cutout for our hitch access. The measurements we are using are from the inside of the well here. And there you have it, we have removed the fascia to gain access to the bolt holes underneath the bumper that we will use to attach the hitch to the vehicle. We will be using this hole here on the passenger side of the frame rail in addition to our rear tow hook. 1:41
The next step is to take the fish wire lead that is provided with the installation kit and feed it up through this hole here and have it come out the larger hole towards the rear of the frame rail. We are going to install the block with the 7/ 16ths carriage bolt, that is provided with our kit, and pull those through the frame rail. We will leave that there for now. Now we will install the trailer hitch, it is a good idea to have an extra set of hands during this process. As you can see, pull down the rear fascia to get the hitch installed up into place. It is a good idea to leave the fish wire attached here, because when you get your hitch up you will notice that it wants to push that carriage bolt back into the frame. With the hitch in place we can go ahead and install our nut on the backside of that carriage bolt. Next, we will install the hitch to the rear bumper portion here. You will notice it comes with two different sized carriage bolts, 3/ 8ths and 7/ 16ths size, align them up with the proper sized blocks and align them to the holes on the bumper. With those installed we will be sure to put our locks and nuts on there as well. 3:40
Now, with our 1/ 2 inch hex bolt, block, and locking nut, we will go ahead and install them to our tow hook. You want to make sure you install the longer side of the block facing the spare tire wheel well. Now with all the bolts installed we will snug them down and then torque them. When torquing the hitch to the rear tow hook you want to make sure to keep the plate parallel with the tow hook to make sure it has a good mounting structure. Now that we have our hitch installed we will make sure to put our rear fascia back into place. Now for the measurements for this particular hitch. From the center of the pin hole to the rear of the bumper is 3 inches. From the top of the receiver tube to the ground is 12 inches. There you have it for Curt hitch part number 11326 on a 2009 Saab 9-3.
