Today on this 2010 Toyota Highlander we are going to be installing Curt hitch part number 13534. Starting over on the driver side we have got an existing tow hook that is held in with two bolts and you need to remove those two bolts and we will be using those weld nuts in the frame as our two rear most attaching points. Further up the frame you can see we have got a plug. We are going to remove that plug to expose the weld nut and that is going to provide our third attaching point for the trailer hitch. You can move to the outboard passenger side of the frame you can see we have got three plugs in it. We want to remove all three of those and we are going to be using the two outer most holes as our side attaching points. Again we have got the same tow hook. We are going to remove the two bolts holding it in and those are going to be our two attaching points for the bottom of the frame. 00:40
Into each one of the weld nuts that I just pointed out we are going to be using new hardware. We are going to be using the 10 millimeter bolts along with the conical washer. When putting the hitch up in position you can see we have got the large cut out to go over the exhaust. Now with the hitch up into place and the bolts tightened down we are going to go back through and torque the bolts down. We want to verify with the directions the specific torque rating for each of the bolts. With the bolts tightened down our installation is complete. Now with our hitch installed we are going to give you a couple of final installed dimensions. From the top of the receiver tube opening to the ground is going to measure 14-3/ 4 inches and from the center of the pin hole to clear the rear edge of the bumper is going to be approximately three inches. This will conclude the installation of Curt hitch part number 13534 on a 2010 Toyota Highlander.
