Today we are going to install part number 24826 from Draw-Tite, and we are going to install this on a 2009 Honda Fit. The hitch gets installed using this hole in the frame and this hole in the frame right here. And also what is going to happen is we are going to have to trim this plastic piece off so the hitch will fit flush against the frame of the vehicle. OK, it is going to be the same thing on this side however, the hitch is going to wrap around the exhaust and use the same existing holes that are in the frame as was on the drivers side. Optionally, you can disconnect the exhaust and move it out of the way so it will be a little easier to get ahold of the hardware going into the vehicle. And that is what we are going to do here. So we will disconnect the two rubber hangers here, and hopefully that will give us enough wiggle room to push it off to the side. We actually put a safety strap on - we actually use a strap to hold it out of the way because there is plenty of room actually to move around now.
All right, what we will do is make a cut going this way. There we go. Now the hitch can sit flat against it, and this will be sitting up against the hitch. All right, now we can notch out this hole just enough to get our hardware inside there. It does not take much - probably a little bit more than 1/8 inch will be good enough. There you go. All right, we will go ahead and start installing our hardware. Using this hole in the back, we will start with that one first. We run our bolt leader all the way through, up to the front. Put our block in first and then thread in our bolt. Pull the whole assembly through, and back down. And we reuse this hole for the second fastener. So what is going to happen is we put our block on first, and our bolt next. Pull everything inside and pull it back through. Do the same thing on the passengers side, too. Put the passengers side up around the muffler first and then come back around and go over to the drivers side. We can go ahead and start snugging up the bolts. OK, once you get the bolts snugged down, then go ahead and torque the bolts down according to the specified ratings in the instructions. And with the exhaust reinstalled, that finishes our install of part number 24826 on a 2009 Honda Fit.
