2009 - 2010 Ford Flex with Driver Side Tailpipes
Today on this 2009 Ford Flex we will be installing Draw-Tite hitch part number 75664. This installation will also apply for Hidden Hitch part number 87545. We are underneath the vehicle and we are taking a look at the passenger side frame rail. You can see we have got two existing weld nuts here at the end of the frame that will provide our two attaching points for trailer hitch. Then over here on the drivers side you can see the same two weld nuts have bolts already in them that are holding up the exhaust bracket. We are going to need to go ahead lower those two bolts out of there and we will be replacing those with two new bolts provided in our installation kit. We will also need to remove the exhaust off of its forward most hanger as well. And with the removal of those two hangers we should have enough room to get our hitch up into place.
So we are going to start by going ahead and doing that, lowering the exhaust off both of its hangers. I am going to support the exhaust tube here with a common tow strap. That way when we remove it off the hanger we do not have to worry about the exhaust falling and damaging itself. With the exhaust out of the way we can go ahead and put the hitch up in position. We want to make sure we bring it up and over the exhaust up and over the drivers side. We are going to sandwich the hitch in between the frame and the exhaust hanger here. Now that we have the bolts up into place we can go ahead and torque them down. You want to check with the directions to verify the appropriate torque rating for each individual bolt. You want to go ahead and put the forward most exhaust bracket back up onto its hanger, and our installation will be complete. This will conclude the installation of hitch part number 75664 on a 2009 Ford Flex.
