Installation of a Trailer Hitch on a 2007 Kia Sorento
Okay today, on this 2007 Kia Sorento, we are going to install part number 87425 from Hidden Hitch. This also applies to Draw-Tite part number 75516. First we will go ahead and show you where the hitch mounts up on the frame. It is actually going to mount up on the side of the frame using these threaded holes that are already in here. All right, it is going to be the same thing on the other side of the vehicle on the driver side except the muffler is going to be a little bit in the way. Most of the time you can work your way around it. If you need to, it might be a good idea just to pull it out a ways while you do your work. Okay, the first thing we are going to do is go ahead and inspect the thread.
Sometimes on the newer vehicles, it will not be too bad of a deal, but on older vehicles you are getting dust, dirt, and grime in there. So it is a good idea to spray it down with some kind of lubricant and run the bolts in and out just to make sure all of the threads are cleared. All right, at this point we can go ahead and start installing the hitch. We actually took a few minutes and we actually put a strap around the muffler, pulled it down out of our way and this will give us straight in line access to the bolts in the frame on the side. And then push up the other side and then we will get our bolts started. Okay now we have got all of the bolts snug down we can go ahead and torque them down as specified in the instructions. After you have your bolts torqued down, that finishes our install part number 87425.
