Installation of a Trailer Hitch on a 2006 Kia Sedona

Today on this 2006 Kia Sedona we will be installing Hidden Hitch part number 70761. This hitch installation will also apply to Draw-Tite hitch part number 75421. We are underneath the vehicle and the first thing we want to do over here on the passenger side frame rail is to go ahead and lower the exhaust down to get it out of our way. We are going to be removing the exhaust off of its rear most hanger which you can find right here and we can simply unbolt it from the frame there are two bolts there. 00:27

With the exhaust down we can see here that we have got three existing weld nuts at the bottom of the frame. Those are going to provide our attaching points for our trailer hitch. That is going be the same on both sides of the vehicle. In preparation we are going to go ahead and clean the weld nuts out first. Any vehicle that has seen at least one winter is going to have some road grime or corrosion built up inside those weld nuts. To do that we are just going to use a spray lubricant like a WD-40, and we just spray that inside the weld nut. 01:04

Then we just want to take a wire brush of some sorts. I am actually going to be using a battery terminal cleaner and just run that in there a few times. That will help loosen up the road grime and corrosion that is in there. You want to go ahead and repeat that process for all the weld nuts. With the weld nuts thoroughly cleaned out, we can go ahead and put the hitch up in position. We are going to be installing the hitch to the weld nuts using the 12 millimeter bolts and conical tooth washer combination. Now that we have got all the bolts up into place, we can go ahead and torque them down. You want to check with the directions to verify the appropriate torque rating for each individual bolt. With the bolts torqued down, we just want to make sure we put our exhaust back up on its hanger and our installation will be complete. This will conclude the installation of Hidden Hitch part number 70761 on a 2006 Kia Sedona.
