Today on this 2006 Dodge Charger we are going to install part number 90339 from Hidden Hitch. This also applies to part number 36325 from Draw-Tite. To begin our install we need to lower the exhaust so we have access to the frame. First thing we are going to to is lubricate the rubber hangers here, that way it makes it a lot easier to pull off the metal hangers themselves. Pull it down just a little bit to allow the lubricant to get in. :24
The body work itself is still holding up the exhaust so we need to pull it down. What we are going to do is put this safety strap around the exhaust to keep it from falling completely down and damaging a component or something. The hitch is going to mount up on the frame using the rearmost threaded hole, the two holes farther back that are about a 1/ 2 inch diameter, and the middle hole will not be used, that will be the access hole for our hardware. On this side it is going to be pretty similar except it has two threaded holes and only one hole, the forward most, that will get the hardware installed. 1:07
Before we install the hitch we want to take some time out and go ahead and clean out the threads that are existing in the frame. Take your bolt and run it in first, make sure you can get it started. You may need to spray some lubricant in there to help clean out the threads. Just run the bolt in and out a few times. You can go ahead and start installing your hitch. All right next what we are going to do is install our hardware and it is going to use a special type of hardware, this handle nut here. What we did is bent the handle to the shape you need to go through the access hole and to the bolt hole we are going to use. These handles bend pretty easy so you can manipulate them any way you want. What you need to do is just get it started and we will just push the handle out of the way and work on the next one on the other side. 1:52
We are done with the passenger side for now so we will go over to the driver side and finish that up. We have all our bolts started so just go ahead and snug them all down. Then we will torque the bolts down as specified in the instructions. At this point we can start reattaching the exhaust back up to the rubber hangers. All right and with that that finishes our install of part number 90339 from Hidden Hitch.
