Starting up underneath the vehicle, the first thing we need to do before we can install the hitch is go ahead and remove the fascia covering over here on the driver side. There are hex head bolts and push pin fasteners. Just follow along on the outside edge of the covering. You will be able to locate those. So we want to go ahead and remove that now. With the panel removed, we can go ahead and point out the mounting points we are going to use to attach the hitch to the vehicle. Over here on the driver side, as well as on the passenger side, we have a factory installed tow hook with two bolts holding it in place. We are going to remove the tow hooks from both the driver and passenger side and use the mounting holes from the tow hook to mount our hitch in place. 1:26
With the tow hooks removed, we can go ahead and put the hitch up into place. We are going to be using the new 10 millimeter bolts, along with the conical tooth washers, to attach the hitch to the vehicle. With the bolts tightened down, we can go back through now and torque each one of the bolts down. We want to verify with the directions the specific torque ratings for each of the bolts. And with that, that will conclude the installation of Hidden Hitch part number 60894 for a 2005 Toyota Prius.
