Installation of a Trailer Hitch on a 2005 Hyundai Santa Fe
Alright, today we are going to install part number 75471 from Draw-Tite and we will be installing this on a 2007 Hyundai Santa Fe. This also applies to hidden hitch number 87414. It is a relatively easy hitch to install. It attaches at 2 points right here, at these 2 threaded holes inside the frame. They are going to be identical on both sides of the vehicle. So first thing we will want to do, even though this is a new vehicle, is take some time out to run the bolts in and out just to make sure that you do not have any dust or road grime in there.
The next step is we can go ahead and lift the hitch up into position. It is kind of heavy and you have to work around the exhaust. Also you have to put a plate and a lock washer with the bolt as you put it in there. What might be easier, and what we will do, is go ahead and put the bolts by themselves in, just one of the bolts in each side. Then go back to the remaining holes and thread in the plates and washers and we will go back and fix the ones we originally put in in the first place. It is kind of heavy and awkward so it is good to have a extra set of hands. Alright now we will install the hardware, the plate, the lock washer, and then the bolt. Ok, and then we will go ahead and just replace the hardware in the back. Just go ahead and repeat it for the other side. Once you have it the way you want it, go ahead and snug the bolts down to keep it in place. At this point we can go ahead and give the bolts their final torque. As before, you can repeat on the other side. There you have it for part number 75471 on our 2005 Hyundai Santa Fe.
