Today on this 2010 Toyota Tundra pickup truck, we are going to install part number 41935 from Draw-Tite. Alright, the hitch is going to mount up in the same exact place where the angle iron bracket is. So that is going to have to be removed and the hitch is going up in the same place as the existing fasteners that are already there. Further forward on the vehicle frame, these two holes that are already threaded in the frame, the hitch will use those to mount up to also. It is identical on both side. Right now we are looking at the passenger side of the vehicle. Alright, with the two bolt holes on the side of the frame it is a good idea to go ahead and spray them down a couple of times with WD-40, just to clean out some of the grit in there. Even though this is a brand new vehicle, there is sand there on the other side. So, do not ask me how it got there but there was. We will just clean them out and run a bolt in to make sure everything starts OK. On older vehicles, you will probably have to clean these out a little bit more for anything that has possibly happened in later years. We just want to make sure that the threads are good before we let the bolts in with the hitch. 1:17
We are going to go ahead and install the hitch onto the frame of the vehicle. It is going to be a good idea to have an extra set of hands because this is quite the awkward beast. We have one bolt on each side holding everything together. Lets go ahead and put our hardware on. We have a flat washer, a lock washer and a nut. Now again, the bolt was the original bolt that was going in there, in the truck, so we needed to keep those. Lets just go ahead and do the other three remaining bolt holes and just get the hardware installed loosely. Now we are going to go ahead and reinstall these factory bolts but with the addition of a conical tooth washer. And we will go ahead and reinstall it. Alright, on the frame mounts what is going to happen is that the block is going to sit between the frame and the hitch. So we have to pop the hitch out just a little bit to sneak it inside there. We use a little pry bar. We will use a screw driver to kind of get us the rest of the way there. Alright, then another block goes on the outside. We need block, lock washer and bolt. And go through and we will get those started. We will do the same thing for the last bolt going forward. 2:43
Once you get all of the bolts started, you can just go ahead and snug them down. Make sure they are all drawn down properly. Once we have all of our bolts drawn down, we can go ahead and torque the bolts as specified in the instructions. Alright, with that that finishes our install of part number 41935 from Draw-Tite. 3:46
