Installation of a Trailer Hitch on a 2006 Nissan Titan
Today we are going to be installing Hidden Hitch part number 70530 on a 2006 Nissan Titan. OK, we are underneath the vehicle now, and we are going to go ahead and point out the attaching points for the trailer hitch. Looking at the drivers side frame rail, you can see here, at the rear end of the nearest bumper, you have got two weld nuts that are going to provide the rearmost attaching points for the hitch. And then there is one a little bit forward of the spring bracket, right here, that will be the third attaching point for the hitch as well. And it will be the same on both sides of the vehicle. If the vehicle is a little bit older, it may be necessary to clean out all these weld nuts. There may be some road grime in there, and it makes it a little difficult to get the bolts threaded in. So the first thing you want to do is just, like I say, clean them out and make sure the bolts go in easily. And once you have done that, you can go ahead and put the hitch up into position.
You want to make sure to put the lock washer and flat washer on the bolt before you it into the frame. Go ahead and get all six of the bolts into position, kind of loosely installed, and then you can go back and tighten them down. With the bolts all tightened up we want to go back and torque them down to their specified torque rating. And you can find that torque rating in your directions. OK, and with all the bolts torqued down, our installation will be complete. And this will conclude the installation of trailer hitch part number 70530 on a 2006 Nissan Titan.
