Installation of a Trailer HItch on a 2006 Hyundai Elantra

Today we are going to install part number 24703 from Draw-Tite, and we are going to install this hitch on a 2006 Hyundai Elantra. All right, looking on the bottom of the vehicle, looking up on the passengers side, you will see the bolt that is in the frame the hitch will attach at that point right there. This hitch does not come with new bolts to replace the existing factory bolts. It will be just like that on the passengers side and on the drivers side. We are also going to use the center tow loop on the trunk pan here, too. We will use that for an attachment point.

We will start off by taking out the factory bolts. There will be just enough room so we will not actually have to take down the exhaust or anything, either, which is nice. All right, next what we will do is install our hardware for our center tie-down loop. Now, there is some sealant along the edges here you might want to scrape off some of the top layers so the bolt will sit in as level as possible. It goes in on an angle, of course, but you want the plate sitting on top of the hook as flat as possible and as far forward on the vehicle. Next we can go ahead and hang our hitch on that.

We will go ahead and hang the hitch now by the center tow loop bolt. Now we will go on to the two outside frame bolts. All right, once you have got all the bolts started, you can go ahead and snug them all down. At this point, we can go ahead and torque down the bolts as specified in the instructions. There is not going to be much thread after that there is just going to be one or two threads at the most. All right, and with that - pretty simple setup - that finishes our install of part number 24703 from Draw-Tite.
