Installation of a Trailer Hitch on a 2003 Chevrolet Express Van

Today on this 2003 Chevrolet Express Van we are going to install part number 82580 from Hidden Hitch. This also applies to part number 41521 from Draw-Tite. First we will show you where the hitch mounts up onto the frame of the vehicle. This will be a very easy hitch to install too so that will be nice. It is going to use existing holes in the frame of the van. Right now we are looking at the driver side. We are going to use this one here, here, and right here just behind the spring hanger. This is going to be identical on both sides of the vehicle. 00:30

We will get right to installing the hardware inside the frame of the vehicle itself. You will notice on the hardware kit there is going to be two different size blocks. You have got this bigger block and this smaller block. This bigger block gets installed behind this frame member here. The small blocks will go up towards the bumper. We can lift the hitch in position. It is going to be a good idea to have an extra set of hands at this point. When we install the hitch on to the bolts we use a conical tooth washer and a nut. 00:57

We have got our hardware started. Lets snug down all of the bolts and then we will torque them down as specified in the instructions. A few simple steps and our hitch is already installed. We have got the vehicle off the ramp. We will give you a couple measurements of the hitch itself in relation to the bumper to help you in finding some accessories for the hitch. From the top of the receiver opening to the ground is going to be 15 inches on this particular vehicle. From the center of the hitch pin hole out to the edge of the bumper is going to be about 5 inches. There you have it for part number 82580 from Hidden Hitch.
