Today we are going to install part number 75079 from Draw Tite, and we are going to install this on a 2000 Chevrolet Blazer. This install also applies to part number 87478 from Hidden Hitch. First, we will show you where the hitch mounts up on the vehicle. It is going to mount up on the side of the frame as opposed to on the bottom. What is going to happen is there are two bolts here. To take these nuts off or connect it on the other side, these two bolts will come out at one time on the other side. And wrench access is going to be kind of tight with this crossbar this body support bar here.
What we are going to do is just loosen this bolt here and get it out of the way so that will give us a little bit easier access to the nuts there. And it is going to be identical on both sides. All we need to do is actually push it a little bit forward, and that will give us enough room. The next thing I am going to do is knock out these two bolts, which are connected by a plate. So we have got to tap on each one to work its way out. These two bolts here can be a real pain to get out, especially on an older vehicle. So basically what we did was we just go ahead and just tapped on it with a hammer and just kept tapping it back and forth until we got it loose. And repeat the same process on the other side of the vehicle.
The next thing we are going to do is show you the placement of the blocks in this one. You have got to take care and make sure that they do not overlap. There is a certain orientation that they have to be set into the frame of the vehicle. Now, ideally you probably want to put the hitch up first and then the bolts in, but we are going to put them up there loosely for now to show you an idea of how the blocks fit in there. So this one is going to sit just like that up to its first hole in the existing hole in the frame, and the next two are going to go in the place where we took out that bolt strap. And it fits flat like that. I guess the plate sits kind of sideways. And the one on top does the exact same thing except a little bit offset. You do not want to end up with that. You want to end up with it like that when it is all said and done.
At this point, we can go ahead and install the hitch. It is a good idea to have an extra set of hands to help hold it up there until you get it at an angle. Three bolts in each side. After we have got our hitch torqued down, do not forget about the body support rods here. Let us go ahead and put them back in their respective places and install the bolts. That covers it for our install of part number 75079 from Draw Tite.
