All right, today we are going to show you part number Y02420 from Yakima. This is their StickUp Bicycle Carrier. This is a bicycle carrier that is a wheel-mount design that carries up to two bikes. Some quick points about this bicycle rack are that the rear wheel wells themselves are adjustable on the rear wheel. It also has a one single arm that will actually hold both bikes. The handles that lock themselves are independent of each other. And also the whole bicycle rack tilts up out of the way when you are not using it. And of course it does fit 1-1/4 and 2-inch receivers. Right now, this is set up for a 2-inch receiver hitch. To convert it down to a 1-1/4 inch, all we have to do is take off this bolt right here. It is an Allen key bolt, and the bicycle rack does come with the tools to take it apart with an Allen key wrench. One bolt and it is ready for use in a Class II receiver hitch. And in this instance, we are actually going to use it on a Class III receiver so we will go ahead and reinstall the bushing.
All right, we will install this on a typical 2-inch receiver, and we are going to install this while the bicycle rack is in the tilted-up and stored position - which is a good idea to have it that way because it is easier to install on your hitch. Once you have your bicycle rack installed, go ahead and install the anti-rattle bolt that comes with the bicycle rack. Just thread it in as far as you can and then just take a wrench and go ahead and thread it through the rest of the way. This is a wrench that is provided with the kit to help tighten it down, but you can also use a 3/4-inch socket and ratchet, too, to make things a little bit faster. All right, once you have the anti-rattle bolt tightened down, it is a good idea to go ahead and install the safety pin behind it. We have the bicycle rack tilted up in the upright position. Let us go ahead and lower it and get it ready to load up the bikes.
It is very easy to do. All we have got to do is pull up on this red knob right here and just pull back on the bicycle rack. It automatically locks back in position, and we are ready to install some bikes. Next we will talk about the cradles. The rear cradle, as shown here, is adjustable up and down on the bicycle rack itself. There is a knob right here on the end you just loosen it and you can slide it back and forth as needed to accommodate the length of your bike. When you have found that, then you can just tighten it up with the same knob, and it is good to go. And your bike will fit inside this rear well the rear wheel will fit in here and the strap will go over the rim itself and tightens down just like so. Next, we will show you the front wheel mount, which is pretty nice. What is kind of neat about this wheel mount that not other bicycle racks have this feature is that when you put your bike in here, the wheel actually sits inside here, of course, but actually it helps hold the bike up while you install the clamps that hold everything down, which we will show you next.
All right, this is the assembly that clamps down the bike. Pull on that knob, put them in their upright position, and it is held in place just like that. And again, what is nice with the front wheel mount is the bike is held in position while you work with this, so you do not have to worry about doing two things at the same time. And these are the clamps here. When you get them over the bike you simply push them down on the bike until they are secure. The first thing you need to do to load a bike is go ahead and raise the mast. Pull this pin out and raise it up into position. You may have to undo the clamp to get it out of the way. All right, when the pin locks back into place, then you can go ahead and load up your bike. All right, take your bike and put it in the wheel wells. Go ahead and push the clamp down onto it until it is secure, and then tie down your back wheel. There you have it within seconds, your bike is loaded and ready to go down the road. And last but not least, but one of the best features about this bicycle rack is the built-in bottle opener on the very end, right here. This covers our review of Y02420 from Yakima, the StickUp Bicycle Rack.
