Yakima BigHorn 4 Bike Hitch Mounted Tilting Rack w Frame Mount Cradles for 2" Hitches
Y02404
$180.00Today we are going to show you part number Y02404 from Yakima. This is their BigHorn Hitch Mounted 4-Bike Carrier for a 2-inch receiver hitch. This is one of their more basic carriers, but it will do anything you need to. It will carry up to four bikes and transport your bikes securely and safely. All right, we will go ahead and install this on our 2-inch receiver using the anti-rattle bolt.
Just install it in the hitch, line up the holes, take your anti-rattle bolt, install it and thread it into place. And once you get it hand tight, you can go ahead and tighten it down with a 7/8-inch wrench. And then install your safety clip on the other side. All right, we will go ahead and show you the tilt feature on this bicycle rack. You simply just undo the pin, pull it out, and pull back on the carrier itself. And with that you have easy access to the back of your vehicle. All right, we will go ahead and install a bike and give you an idea of how it gets strapped down onto it. And, as we stated before, this bicycle rack will hold up to four bicycles.
Get your bike and put it on the cradle, straighten them out as best you can so the best contact to the bike is possible. And push them up against it. And your anti-sway cradle, right here, goes against your downtube, and that is what keeps the bike from swaying around. And just use the straps to hold everything down. And the straps can go over the bike on the top. Without the anti-sway, you can go in a diagonal action, too, if you have to.
All right, next we will cover the cradles themselves. They are pretty neat in the fact that they are constructed of a heavy-duty plastic material. You can also move them back and forth to accommodate different handlebar-and-seat combinations between the bikes. And just friction holds them in place. And also the cradles, with the anti-sway, this part right here, when you keep them together, for one, it is easy to slide the bikes over them, compared to some other ones that they stay down all the time. But you can actually move these a lot easier on the bicycle rack. And plus, when you pull down on the anti-rattle, it actually kind of acts as a ratchet to tighten it up. And also, we will show you cradle without the anti-sway. What is nice about these cradles is that there are four posts to put your strap on, so putting it on the frame of your bike where cables or whatnot might be in the way you have a few different options. And then with the anti-sway cradle you just have the one going over and of course the one for the bottom for the anti-sway. And the all last important detail about this bicycle rack is the built-in the bottle opener on the back. All right, and that covers the review of part number Y02404 from Yakima, the BigHorn Hitch Mounted 4-Bike Carrier.
