Today were going to review part number Y04048. This is the Yakima Rip Cord Multipurpose Locking Straps with rubber coated buckles. These multipurpose straps are perfect for locking up all your gear from surfboards and bicycles to trailers and ladders. These versatile straps have a wide variety of applications. They will protect your surfboard, boats, bikes, motorcycles, ladders, trailers and other gear against stuff and these will work with the Yakima SUP Nose/Tail Tie Downs part number Y04060 which is sold separately and it will help anchor your surfboards to your roof. These locking cargo straps are nylon-coated and steel -reinforced so they do have a stiff feel to them.
The buckles are a rubber-coated aluminum buckle which will safeguard your gear from scratches and abrasions and it resists corrosion for long life. This does use the SKS System which means it will come with the two lock course and the two keys and these can be swapped out to make all your Yakima locks key to like. This part number comes as quantity of two straps. The length is 12-foot per strap; comes with a lifetime warranty. Basically what you would do to install this strap is you take the one end and wrap around whatever youre tying down.
Youll run it through the bottom, it will come out the front and to run it through you do have to depress this red button all the way down to allow the strap to go through, when you let it back up that will lock the strap into place and then if you want to, you can put the key in turn it and thatll keep anybody depressing it to release that strap which will allow everything to be locked unto your vehicle.So, basically, again, if youll depress this button all the way, take the other end, just insert it in there. And as you can see it will pull all the way through, again, holding the red button down. Once let up on it, it will allow you to pull but again you could see it locks it down and you just pull more out to tighten it down and then once you get it all tightened down you could just take your key, turn it to lock it and then nobody can release the cord. Its in the lock position. And that should do itoh, and by the way it does come with a nice storage bag to carry both straps.
