Review of Kenda Tires and Wheels AM3S360

Today we're going to review part number AM3S360. This is a Kenda Loadstar Tire size ST205/75D14 bias trailer tire. It's mounted on a 14-inch Dexstar Galvanized Steel Wheel. This wheel has a galvanized finish for superior corrosion resistance it's on the front of the wheel and on the back of the wheel. Now we'll do a few measurements on the wheel, the diameter which is measured inside to inside, it will be 14 inches. The width on this wheel will be 6 inches wide.

This wheel does use a bolt pattern of 5-hole 4-1/2 inch bolt pattern. And on a wheel that has an odd number of bolt holes like in this case five lugs, there'll be a couple of ways you can measure the bolt pattern and I'll show you both of those. The first way is if you draw a circle through the center of all five of the lug holes, measure the diameter of that circle that will tell you the bolt pattern. So in this case if we measure from the center of this hole to the outer edge of that circle it will be 4-1/2 inches, so that will be a 5-lug 4-1/2 inch bolt pattern. The second way is if you pick one of the lug holes and measure it from the center of that hole to the center of the lug hole adjacent to it, either way.

So in this case if we measure from the center of this hole to the center of this one it will be 2-5/8 inches. And you go to the product page for this part number and at the bottom of the product page we have a chart that will show when you do the measurement from the center of the lug hole to the center of the other lug hole right next to it and it reads 2-5/8, that will mean this bolt pattern is 5 on 4-1/2 inches. This wheel does have a weight capacity of 1870 lbs at 50 psi. It does use a wheel bolt size of 1/2-inch by 20. Another critical measurement is the large hole in the center of the wheel called the pilot hole.

This is what goes over the hub on your trailer. So if we measure that diameter it will be 3.19 inches. Now we'll move on to the tire. The tire is a Loadstar size ST for Special Trailer, 205/75D14. The D will designate that it is a bias constructed tire.

This tire is a Load Range B which means it is a four ply rated tire which has a maximum load carrying capacity of 1430 lbs at 35 psi. And we mentioned this a bias trailer tire. It means the belts or the chords inside the tire will run the length of the tire as opposed to a radial where the beads and chords will run bead seat to bead seat or the radius of the tire. On a bias tire the tire's sidewall will usually be a little more firmer when compared to a radial designed tire. One last measurement we're going to do is the overall diameter. And if we measure all the way across it will be 26 inches. This tire and wheel combo does come with a limited two year warranty. And that should do it for part number AM3S360.

Trailer Wheel Measurements

In this video we are going to describe how to measure a trailer steel wheel. I have two examples here one is a 14 X 5-1/2, 5 on 4-1/2 bolt pattern steel wheel. This other one is a 16 X 6, 6 lug on 5 steel wheel, and the way to measure to know what size it is, on the diameter of the wheel, in other words what size tire will fit on this wheel is you want to measure from the inside to the inside where the bead seats and protrudes 60 inches. In other words thats the bead seat to the bead seat. You do not want to measure over all length from edge to edge, okay and to measure the width of the wheel. Again you will not want to measure, do not measure overall because it will show 7 inches incorrect.
