Review of Kenda Tires and Wheels AM3S050

Today, were going to review part number AM3S050. This is a Kenda Loadstar Tire, ST175/80D13. Its a bias trailer tire and its mounted on a 13-inch Dexstar White Spoke Wheel. This wheel does come with a white powder coat finish for superior corrosion resistance on the front of the wheel and all on the back of the wheel. A few measurements well do on this wheel is the diameter of the wheel, which we measure inside to inside to be 13 inches. The width of this wheel is a 4-1/2-inch wide wheel.

This wheel has a bolt pattern of five lugs on a 4-1/2-inch bolt pattern and on a wheel that has an odd number of lugs, there are a couple ways you can go by measuring the bolt pattern. First way is if you drew a circle through the center of all five lug holes then measure the diameter of that circle. That will give you the bolt pattern. So if we measure from the center of this bolt hole to that edge of that circle we've drawn, it is 4. The second way is you can measure from a bolt hole center to a bolt hole center right next to it, and if we do that like in this case from here to here, it would be 2-5/8 inches.

What you can do is go to the product page for this part number, and at the bottom of the page we have a chart and it will list that if that measurement from bolt hole side to bolt hole side is 2-5/8, that would mean that is a 5 on 4-1/2-inch bolt pattern. This wheel does have a weight capacity of 1660 lbs at 65 psi. It does use a wheel bolt size of a 1/2 inch by 20. And another critical measurement will be this large pilot hole in the center of the wheel. This is what will go over the hub on your trailer.

The diameter on that would be 3.19 inches so that will give you a pilot hole diameter of 3.19. Now, well move on to the tire. The tire is a Loadstar, size ST for Special Trailer, 175/80D13. The D will signify that it is a bias trailer tire. The Load range on this is B which is a 4-ply rated tire.

It does have a maximum load carrying capacity of 1100 lbs at 35 psi. Another measurement well do is the overall diameter. On this one will be 24 inches all the way across. And this tire is a bias construction, which will mean when this is built, this tire had the belts that will run the length of the tire as opposed to a radial tire where the belts would run bead seat to bead seat, which would be the radius of the tire. On a bias tire, the side wall will be a little bit firmer when compared to a radial tire. This tire and wheel combo does come with a limited two-year warranty. And that will do it on part number AM3S050.

Trailer Wheel Measurements

In this video we are going to describe how to measure a trailer steel wheel. I have two examples here one is a 14 X 5-1/2, 5 on 4-1/2 bolt pattern steel wheel. This other one is a 16 X 6, 6 lug on 5 steel wheel, and the way to measure to know what size it is, on the diameter of the wheel, in other words what size tire will fit on this wheel is you want to measure from the inside to the inside where the bead seats and protrudes 60 inches. In other words thats the bead seat to the bead seat. You do not want to measure over all length from edge to edge, okay and to measure the width of the wheel. Again you will not want to measure, do not measure overall because it will show 7 inches incorrect.
