Review of Fulton Winches FT32050301

Today were going to review part number FT32050301. This is the Fulton high performance 2-speed trailer winch with a 3200 lb weight capacity. This corrosion resistant winch has 2 speeds. One for quick pull-in the other for greater mechanical advantage and also has a natural freewheeling position for the fast line payout. This winch is great for boat trailers or marine applications. And again, the 2 speeds need a higher gear, which lets you pull in quickly and then the lower smaller gear which will offer increased mechanical advantage.

It is a shift lock design which means right here if youd pull this youll be able to move, change gears without having to remove the handle. This way we shift it into the lower gear. The lock will go into place and that will keep the handle from moving and now you have it in the position for lower gear. If you want to move it into the higher gear just pull the lock off, slide it along. This will engage the higher gear and that will lock into position.

And again the nice feature is theres a middle. This shaft has three indentations on it, one is for the lower, the higher. If you put it right in the middle it will not engage any gear and if you have your ratchet down here in the freewheel position it will allow the quick line payout. Now, this winch does have a Z-Max 600 zinc finish which will provide superior corrosion resistance. Basically, that finish means it has been tested for 600 hours of assault spray rating.

There is an optional handbrake, manual handbrake kit that is sold separately. If you go to this products part number in this product page on this right hand side will be related products and it will list the handbrake kit. Now, the--I want to give you a measurement on the handle. The handle length will be 10 inches. The gear ratios will be 5.1:1 and 12.2:1.

Basically, what that tells you is that right now were in the lower gear which is the 12.2:1 and what that will mean is that for this drum to rotate one revolution it will take 12.2 revolutions of the cranks or the handle. Now if we shift it into the higher gear which will be this one right here that is a 5.1:1 and to move this drum one revolution will take 5.1 revolutions of the handle crank. Now the total maximum mechanical advantage on this winch is 79:1. The drum storage with hold a maximum of 100 feet of 7/32 wire cable. Now this winch is only designed for use with wire cable only. The hub size, the diameter of this hub size right in here is 1-3/4 inches. Again, the weight capacity is 3200 lbs. It does come with a limited 5 year warranty and again real quickly I'm just going to show you how this shift lock works. Right now, its in the high gear. If you pull it out, slide it all the way over. This will engage the lower gear and lock in to place. If you move it to the middle and lock it into position it will be in the freewheeling mode which will allow the drum to freewheel and the ratchet, basically will give you the direction so lets put it into the lower gear and now with it down youll crank in the clockwise position. Pull it all the way up it will go counter-clockwise and again as I mentioned before move right into the middle it wont engage anything and it will go either way. And that should do it for the review on part number FT32050301.
