Today we're going to review part number DL15502. This is the Dutton Lainston Hand Winch, 2-speed winch with an 1,800 pound weight capacity. All of the Dutton Lainston winches are built for multipurpose hauling and lifting operations. The capacity, again, on this winch is 1,800 pounds. Now this is a 2-speed winch for horizontal pulling applications. It is made of a high carbon steel, heat-treated gears.
It has permanent-lubricated bearings, reversible ratchet and an ergonomic handle grip makes easy cranking. And it does have a quick attach handle if you just push on the bottom the handle would come off so you can move it to the other gear. And, again, just push on it and it will slide right on. It allows you to easily change from the high speed to the low gear for heavier loads. This winch does have a zinc tough plate finish, which is a finish that has 3 times the corrosion resistance of your standard zinc-plated finish.
A handle is included. This part does come with a 5 year limited warranty. It is made in the USA. Now this model has a drum hub diameter of 1 1/8 inches. It has a maximum drum capacity for cable of 9/32 of an inch diameter by 58 feet long.
The maximum drum capacity for a strap would be 38 feet long and it will use a 2 inch wide strap. Now this does have a 2-speed operation. It has a high and a low gear. So, basically, right now I'm on the high gear. And what that would mean, the high gear will have a gear ratio of 5.4:1, so that means to rotate this drum one complete revolution you would need to rotate this handle 5.4 times.
Now if I move this handle up to the lower gear, this one right here, that will have a gear ratio of 10.3:1. Basically that would mean to rotate this drum one complete revolution you would have to turn this crank 10.3 revolutions. It does have a reversible ratchet right here and when it's down it is engaging the gear. If you flip it up it leaves it in a freewheel motion so it can go either way.
