Today, we're going to take a quick look at the Bulldog Square Jack with footplate, part number BD190754. Bulldog covers this jack with a limited five-year warranty and has a static capacity of 8000 pounds and a lift capacity of 5000. It's a sidewind jack with the handle and the knob on the side of the jack. There's a nice grip so you can get a hold of the jack to make operation easy. The outer tube is finished in a gray paint and the two inner tubes as well as the welded footplate are zinc plated to protect against corrosion. Now, this footplate is going to provide a broad flat surface for supporting the nose of your trailer, which is going to give a good stability.
Now, I want to go over a couple of measurements. We'll measure the jack's retracted height from the top of the jack to the bottom of the footplate, and that measurement comes to about 25 inches. Now, we have the same jack here, but we've got it extended all the way out. Again, we'll measure from the top of the jack to the bottom of the footplate, and we'll get about 40 inches. Now, the difference between the two, 15 inches, is known as the jack's lift or travel.
Now, this is a drop leg setup where you can remove this pin and drop the inner tube down. That way you can make contact with the ground center and you won't have to crank as much. The drop leg feature adds another 13-1/2 inches of travel. Overall, if you had the jack extended all the way out with the drop leg all the way out, it will total 53-1/2 inches in length. Now, we'll show you how to use the drop leg system.
We'll remove the safety pin and pull out our drop leg pin then we can extend the innermost tube. There are pin holes along the way so you can drop it to the point closest to the ground. Again, there's 13-1/2 inches of travel along the drop leg, but we'll just measure from one hole to the next real quick. Each hole has a space about 3-1/2 inches apart. The jack is a direct weld design, meaning you can weld the jack directly from the housing to the frame of the trailer or you can select whatever hardware you might want to use to do the same.
And that's it for our quick look at the Bulldog Square Jack with Footplate, part number BD190754.
