Review of Bulldog Trailer Jack BD165411

Today were going to review part number BD165411. This is the Bulldog Heavy-Duty A-Frame Rack-and-Gear Jack with a 1200-lb capacity. This Bulldog A-Frame Jack is a durable reliable Rack-and-Gear Jack and includes a steel caster base and all-welded steel gearbox. This is perfect for applications involving heavier trailers and increased tongue weights. This is a durable heavy-duty jack which is efficient and easy to use. It has maximum side-load strength thanks to the heavy-gauge post.

The smooth cranking produces 1-inch of travel for every four turns of the crank. And again, this gearbox is welded steel with a red oxide primer painted finish. And inside is the steel alloy helical gear which offer increased lift capacity. The rack post itself has a yellow zinc plating for corrosion resistance. The mounting bracket which is this triangular part right here can be welded on or bolted on using the three existing holes.

Now the dimension from the center to center of each hole is 3 inches which is the industry standard. So if you have an A-frame jack that has the three holes, normally they will be up to 3-inch center to center measurement. The painted steel wheel is included and it does have the gusseted caster bracket which provides additional stability. I do want to give you a few measurements on this. This jack I have in the fully retracted position where the gearbox is all the way to the bottom.

So well measure the retracted height which will be from the bottom of the wheel to the mounting bracket. And that would measure at 7-1/2 inches. Now with it in the fully extended position where the gearbox would be all the way to the top of the post I went and got another jack and to save time I already cranked it out to the extended position. And again, this would be with the gearbox all the way to the top of the jack. So if we measure from the bottom of the wheel to the mounting bracket that would give us a measurement of 23-1/2 inches.

So to calculate the lift of this jack you would take the extended height which is 23-1/2 subtract the retracted height which is 7-1/2 inches and that will give you a lift of 16-inches so the maximum lift on this jack would be 16-inches. And then one other measurement Im going to give you is the clearance height which would be--well go back to the jack in the fully retracted position. So if we measure the clearance from the mounting bracket to the top of the rack post that would give us 20.3 inches. So the clearance from the mounting bracket to the top of the jack would be 20.3. Now the whole rack post itself, the length of that would be 21 inches. And again, this jack does have a lift capacity of 1200 lbs and it does come with a limited 5-year warranty. And that should do it for our review on part number BD165411.
