Today we're going to review part number BD580404. This is the Bulldog Lifelong Trigger Style Coupler Lock. This convenient set will include locks for your trigger latch style coupler and for your 2-inch trailer hitch receiver. Now they do come with the plastic caps, which will cover the key slots, to help prevent the corrosions in the locks. They are chrome-plated to help resist rusts and they do come with the two high-security square keys. Now on this copper lock, what you will do is you put the key in; you just turn it to open it up and then what you would do, is this coupler lock, it will fit on the trigger latch style ball couplers.
The pin diameter right here is 1/4 inch. Basically, what you would do is slide that onto the latch on your coupler. Line this up, push it together, and then just push in your lock and its locked in place. You put your plastic cup over to protect it. Basically, the diameter, the inside pin length right here, will be 3/4 of an inch.
Now on the hitch lock, the flush-style hitch lock. This will be used in place of the standard pin and clip, that will prevent theft of your ball mount or any hitch mount or accessory. This is basically the same way you would take off the plastic cover. Have access to the key hole, put in your key, turn it; it would just slide off. Now it does use a ball bearing locking system on both of these locks, which will provide maximum security and ease.
Now basically you would slide this, remove your pin and clip on your hitch. Slide this through, put the end on, and then just push that and it's locked in place. Put your plastic cover back on to protect the keyhole. Basically, this will fit a 2-inch trailer hitch receivers. It has a pin diameter of 5/8 of an inch.
The inside pin length will be 2-1/2 inches. This part does come with a limited one year warranty and just to talk about the ball bearing locking system that we've mentioned right here; let me show it to you again. If you'd just open it up. You can see the ball bearing right here. The nice thing about that is that it ensures that the structural integrity of the hitch lock's pin is maintained throughout. Your typical padlock style hitch lock, will have a significant taper at the end of the pin where it snaps into place. This taper on the padlock style hitch lock will weaken the pin; makes it easier to break or cut. Because of this ball bearing design and they call this the Lifelong lock, there is no taper needed. So the pin diameter is the same along the entire length of the lock. The result is this hitch lock is stronger, durable, and highly tamper resistant. That should do it for part number BD580404.
