Custom Fit Brake Controllers
Today we are going to install part number 32810 from Valley this is their Odyssey electronic brake controller. We are also going to use an adapter, part number V30506, also from Valley. What this cord will do is plug between the Odyssey Brake Controller and plug into the factory port underneath the dash. All right, we are going to install this on a 2009 Dodge Ram. The bracket for the brake controller can be attached to the plastic right here. There is not much underneath here to really work with, so you cannot hide it very well underneath here. But there is nothing wrong with putting it here. It just depends on your personal taste and accessibility.
In this case, the customer actually wants it installed on the left-hand side, and what we figured out is that we can actually take this tab down and put this up here. First off, let us undo this screw. We are actually using a self-tapping bit, and we actually marked our hole out first, going by the existing marks in the plastic here. We took it out and then drilled it out, and that is how we got our center hole. And we can put the whole assembly back together at this point.
There, that is a nice, tight fit. We will get our brake controller ready. Go ahead and plug the cord into the back of the Odyssey 2 Brake Controller it comes with it. And then our adapter cord is going to plug into this half here and go underneath the dash. We will go ahead and mount our brake controller to our bracket. Now, it is a little bit of a tight fit, but you still have a little room for your fingers. Again, you might want to see how you like it. But then we will plug in our adapter cord to it, and then this will plug into the factory port underneath the dash, which is very easy to find in this model. It is the blue plug directly to the left of the brake pedal. On this vehicle, you really cannot miss it. We will go ahead and plug in our adapter cord, and then we will take the rest of our cord here and just zip-tie it safely out of the way. What you want to do after mounting the brake controller is you want to go ahead and follow these instructions right here to calibrate it. Basically what you are going to do is put it in its final position, push the brake pedal once, then hold down the button with the trailer on it until that appears, and your brake controller is now calibrated and ready for use. All right, that finishes our install of part number 32810, the Odyssey electronic brake controller.
