Question:
I have a 2008 Dodge pu. When it is parked in my driveway without anything plugged into the trailer plug some times the brake lights come on. I have unplugged my Odyssey 52810 and the problem apears to not happen anymore. Have you heard of this before?

Yes, we have heard of this problem before. It sounds as if you have a bad brake controller. The intermittent problem sometimes occurs if the circuit board goes bad or gets shorted briefly. This problem can occur while towing, creating an unsafe condition. I would check for power at the trailer connector brake feed circuit when the problem appears and if you have power there then you know the problem is related to the brake controller and it will need to be changed. I would not tow with this brake controller installed until I was absolutely sure it is not the problem or I had installed a new one. If the problem occurs only when the brake controller is connected then it most likely is the brake controller.
