Providing an Electrical Ground for Peterson Trailer Tail Lights Part # 444

Do these multi-function tail lights need to be grounded to the trailer body?

Expert Reply:
The studs used to mount the light to the trailer act as the ground. They need to be mounted to a metal surface that connects to the trailer frame. If you cannot mount these studs to a grounded metal portion of the trailer, than a ground wire must be attached to the light studs and run to the metal trailer frame.
