Will My Old Fifth Wheel Hitch Work with My New Trailer?

Question:

I have an older style 5th wheel trailer hitch Atwood 12000 lbs I am going to buy a 2004 5th wheel camper 6000lbs. my question is. Will this trailer hitch perform adequately or do i need to buy a new hitch? Will it accept the newer trailer connection. The hitch I have has been used very little and i really dont want to purchase another one if this one will work. your advise will be appreciated.

The diameter of the king pin is standard. As long as the capacity of your existing hitch is not exceeded by the weight of the trailer, and as long as the hitch is in good mechanical shape, there is no reason why you should not be able to use it.
