The problem could be with either the brake controller, the brakes on the camper, or somewhere in between in the wiring. I would suggest starting at one end or the other and move your way down the line, checking connections, grounds, circuit activation. I would start at the brake controller and set it up like it was brand new. Follow your instruction manual and do all the initial start up steps. If you do this and it does not correct the problem, check all your wiring. If your wiring is good and still no function, check to see if the brakes themselves are a problem. If they are electric, check to see if the magnet wires are fine. The ground for the magnet should be as close to the brake mount as possible. All brake controllers are meant to run off the vehicle electrical system, so they are meant to run in the voltage range of the vehicle. Trucks with tow packages wired in will use circuits at the right voltage and amperage with circuit breakers of the appropriate amperage. There is no difference between brake controllers as far as voltage. Brake controllers have ways to adjust power to the trailer brakes for heavier or lighter payloads. Please write back and let me know if this solved your problem or if we can be of additional help.
