Replacing Failed Grease Seals on Boat Trailer

Question:

I just purchased a boat, motor and trailer. After about a two hour trip I noticed that my trailer rim had some greese on it that I assume leak out. I am wondering if this means I have a bad seal and need to replace. My trailer has bearing buddies or a version of them. I am wonder how to proceed. The hub looks to still be filled with greese. Thank you

Expert Reply:

If the grease is on the back of the wheels, then the grease seals have failed and need to be replaced. While you have the hub disassembled, make sure to examine the bearings and races to ensure they are in good shape.
